SEE Charlotte After School Educational Program
Team FarSight Foundation has partnered with IFB Solutions to develop an after school education program for blind and visually impaired children in Charlotte, NC and surrounding communities. We provide desperately needed, expanded core education that is not currently being provided by the public school system.
Our after school program is open to all blind and visually impaired children grades K-12, and is currently being offered weekly on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 3:30 to 6:00pm. We currently provide Braille instruction, life skills training, socialization skills, and computer education for Apple ad PC. Our Orientation & Mobility instructors and Teachers for the Visually Impaired are licensed and experienced in their fields. To keep our students safe, any teacher or volunteer must pass a background investigation. Our goal for the program is to provide the much needed skills our kids will need to become independent and productive adults, and do this in a fun and engaging environment.
We know that raising a blind or visually impaired child can be a financial hardship for families. As a result, we provide instruction at no cost. We rely on donations, grants, and other private funding to provide these services. Our current facility has been generously provided by St. John's Episcopal Church on Carmel Road in Charlotte.
We are currently seeking dedicated volunteers, additional O&M and TVI instructors, and additional sources of funding. For more information on our program, student enrollment, or donation and volunteer opportunities. please contact Trevor Thomas, via email: email@example.com or call 704-995-2584.
